IMD prediction October 2025 weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its weather forecast for the month of October. Average rainfall across the country is expected to be above normal during October 2025. Cold winds will begin blowing in Delhi-NCR around October 15th. Mornings and evenings will feel mildly chilly. Dense fog is likely to occur as temperatures drop further by the end of the month. The southwest monsoon may retreat across most parts of the country. Furthermore, minimum temperatures are expected to be above normal in October.

Cities like Delhi are expected to see a maximum temperature of 33°C and a minimum of 19°C, while Shimla will be cooler. Cities like Mumbai and Ahmedabad are expected to see a maximum temperature of 34°C to 36°C. Kolkata is expected to see a maximum temperature of 33°C and a minimum temperature of 27°C. Chennai is expected to see a maximum temperature of 36°C and a minimum temperature of 26°C.
Cold will increase in Delhi NCR, fog will troubleCold winds will increase the chill in Delhi-NCR from mid-October, increasing morning and evening temperatures, and light fog may occur. Temperatures will drop further in late October, leading to dense fog. December and January are the coldest months, with temperatures dropping significantly and dense fog likely. In winter, cold winds from the Himalayan region bring severe cold to Noida and much of North India.
Chances of rain exceeding 112% of averageAccording to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), most parts of the country are expected to receive above-normal rainfall in October. The likelihood of La Niña conditions developing during the post-monsoon season increases. Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, and south interior Karnataka may receive more than 112% of normal rainfall. Meanwhile, many parts of northwest India are likely to receive below-normal rainfall. Northeast India is also likely to experience above-normal maximum temperatures. The IMD will release rainfall and temperature forecasts for November 2025 through the end of October 2025.
