The End of Breast Cancer: Breast cancer will end by 2030. The vaccine has been developed under the leadership of a local scientist.
The End of Breast Cancer: The end of breast cancer is very near. Scientists have prepared a vaccine for this, whose first clinical trial has been very successful. This vaccine will prevent breast cancer as well as treat it. The special thing is that Indian scientist Dr. Amit Kumar has a huge contribution in preparing this vaccine. Most cases of breast cancer are reported in women. Of these, most deaths due to breast cancer occur in India. In India, about 98 thousand women die of breast cancer every year, while the number of deaths due to breast cancer worldwide is 6.70 lakh.
The most deadly breast cancer cured
According to a report in the New York Post, the first phase of testing of this vaccine has been completed in which strong immunity against breast cancer has been seen in more than 75 percent of women. This vaccine is being made to both prevent and treat breast cancer. Breast cancer affects one in every 8 women. Dr. Amit Kumar, CEO of Anixa Biosciences, said that this is a very encouraging thing. This vaccine is being developed jointly by Anixa Biosciences and Cleveland Clinic. In the first phase, the vaccine was given to 35 women, most of whom had triple negative breast cancer. This is the most deadly form of breast cancer. Due to this type of cancer, Angelina Jolie had surgery on both her breasts at the age of 37.
Side effects are also negligible.
In this test, blood of women was taken from time to time so that it could be seen how many antibodies are being formed in their body against the targeted molecule alpha-lactalbumin. Scientists said that its side effects were also negligible. There was only a little irritation where the vaccine was administered. Dr. Amit Kumar told that this is a new method. If it works and is successful in preventing cancer, then we can completely eliminate breast cancer. He told that just like we have been successful in completely eliminating polio and other infectious diseases, in the same way we will be successful in eliminating breast cancer by 2030. The second phase of testing should be started next year in which the vaccine will be tried on more women and other types of breast cancer.
Making a vaccine against cancer is very difficult
Dr. Amit Kumar said that making a vaccine against cancer has been very difficult. So far no cancer vaccine has been completely successful. When we make a vaccine for any infection disease, then this virus or bacteria is present outside the body as well, so they can be easily tested and hence it is easy to make a vaccine for it but cancer cells are present only in the body. Therefore it takes a lot of time to understand how they react inside the body. Hence it is challenging. Dr. Amit Kumar told that cancer cells are made from the body's own healthy cells, so the immune system cannot recognize them easily.
A major achievement in the medical field
In the research so far, the proteins found in excess in cancer cells were targeted, due to which the immune system also damaged those healthy organs in which that protein was present. But one special thing about breast cancer is that a protein found in it, alpha-lactalbumin, is produced only during pregnancy and breastfeeding in a woman's life. 20 years ago, a scientist at the Cleveland Clinic put forward the idea that women who do not want to have more children should be given a vaccine against alpha-lactalbumin. This test started with this idea. This research is being considered a major achievement in the medical field and it is getting financial assistance from the US Defense Department. Dr. Kumar hopes that the current government budget cuts will not affect it.
