Katie Price reaches out to Harvey's lookalike half-brother but fears 'he's too scared'

Katie Price has expressed her shock at how much son Harvey Price's paternal half-brother looks like her eldest child. The reality TV star welcomed her first-born into the world in 2002 following a brief romance with former footballer Dwight Yorke.

Manchester United legend Dwight has never been an active parent in Harvey's life. He has only met the 23-year-old a handful of times and never contributed financially to his upbringing.

Harvey lives with Septo-optic Dysplasia, autism, and Prader-Willi syndrome, conditions that necessitate constant care. Katie has previously disclosed how Harvey's additional needs can be constantly, sharing how her son often breaks pricey items like iPads and televisions.

While Dwight has no involvement or relationship with Harvey, the retired sports star is more present in his youngest son's life. Earlier this month, he shared two pictures of Orlando Yorke has he celebrated a milestone birthday.

"Happy 18th bday son. Watching you grow into an amazing young man you are today has been the greatest gift of my life. I'm so proud of you, and all the beautiful things your future holds," Dwight captioned the post.

Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast, Katie revealed Dwight's social media post being sent to her was the first time she's ever seen her son's half-brother. "So obviously, I've got sent his Instagram and a link to look. I can't believe how much he actually looks like Harvey," she recalled to her sister, Sophie Price.

"His eyes and he's like six foot three, same size shoes as Harv. It was so cute and like Princess was like, 'it seems so weird to see him' and like, and then, yeah, I have reached out to him to see if he wants to, because I said, Junior and Princess want to meet him and obviously Harvey, and he actually follows Harvey and Junior."

She went on to share how Junior Andre, her son with ex-husband Peter Andre, suggested reaching out to Orlando but she feels "he's probably too scared because of his dad. Do you know what I mean?"

Katie became pregnant during a brief fling with Dwight; their romance fizzled out amid allegations that she found out Dwight was unfaithful. She once recounted finding out about Dwight's escapades with other women while she was on a lingerie photoshoot.

In a candid 2009 interview, Dwight confessed to his shortcomings as a partner, acknowledging: "I think anyone who's in a relationship would like their partner to be faithful and I'm saying I wasn't the perfect partner, she knows that."

The tumultuous saga between Dwight and his former flame continued through her pregnancy, with him initially disputing paternity until DNA evidence confirmed he was the father. Despite this, the footballer did make an appearance at the hospital, signed the birth certificate, and even attempted to have his surname given to Harvey.

Yet, Dwight's encounters with his son dwindled over time, with him conceding: "It is a combination of different things, one my time schedule and being based up in Manchester and a footballer on an everyday basis."

He reflected with some regret, stating: "Not sitting here and say I'm a total perfect father, I've made mistakes along the way and I would love to turn the clock back."

However, in his autobiography Born To Score, released the same year, Dwight offered a contrasting view on his bond with his son.

He passionately declared in his book: "From the moment I set eyes on the little fella, I have loved my son like I could never ever have imagined possible," and firmly stated, "I am not going to hear anymore that I did not care for Harvey, or have any understanding of his needs or that I was not interested in his welfare.

"Over the years I have heard Katie saying how [Peter] Andre is Harvey's dad and what a terrible, uncaring father I have been, all of which sticks in my throat. Maybe if she had not made life so difficult for me, might have been able to take a far more proactive role."

At that time, Katie's then-husband Peter Andre was keen on adopting Harvey, but Dwight was incensed, confessing he wanted to "throttle" him.

However, five years on, Katie alleged that Dwight had no connection with Harvey. In her 2014 autobiography, she revealed: "The last time Harvey's biological father Dwight Yorke saw him, which was around eight years ago, the first thing he asked was why was Harvey so big. Why was I overfeeding him?".

She continued to explain Harvey's condition to Dwight numerous times, but he failed to grasp it, fixating instead on Harvey's weight. She expressed her disappointment: "I'd explained Harvey's condition to Dwight many times, but he refused to understand it and kept going on about him being fat. It's sad that he's unable to accept Harvey for who he is and seems unable or unwilling to work within his limitations. On that occasion, I think Dwight wanted to blame someone for the fact that his son is disabled."

Despite Dwight's absence, Harvey's maternal grandmother, Amy Price, disclosed in Katie's book that Dwight's agent has kept in touch over the years. Amy revealed: "I think it's sad that Dwight isn't in Harvey's life. His agent has always been in contact with me."

The agent would reach out to inquire about Harvey's wellbeing, as Amy noted: "If Harvey isn't well, she'll message me and ask how he is. But Dwight never asks himself."

In the previous year, when Harvey was critically ill in intensive care, it was Dwight's agent who contacted Amy to find out "how bad he was".

Amy penned her frustrations, stating: "I said, 'Look, this has got to stop now. If Dwight wants to know about Harvey, he's got our number and he should ring us himself'," and continued with a call for accountability, "He shouldn't be going through his agent. It's about time he took some responsibility. But we've heard nothing from Dwight, which is a shame."

She also lamented the lost familial connections, adding: "Harvey is also missing out on a relationship with his brother, as Dwight has another son. It really is such a shame because we always had a good relationship with Dwight."
