Arsenal player ratings as two stars get 8/10 in win over Nottingham Forest

Send Push

Arsenal got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest. The Gunners faced a Forest team who were being managed by Ange Postecoglou for the first time, with the former Tottenham boss having been appointed shortly after the controversial sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Although Postecoglou's side were stubborn to start with, there was no stopping Martin Zubimendi's incredible volley in the 32nd minute. After a corner was only half cleared, Zubimendi shaped up and struck the ball brilliantly before it had time to bounce.

His effort took a slight deflection off a Forest defender, giving Matz Sels no chance. Arsenal went in at the break 1-0 up but they had lost Martin Odegaard to a worrying injury in the first half, a concern ahead of next week's clashes with Athletic Bilbao and Manchester City.

It was a matter of seconds after the break when the Gunners doubled their lead. Viktor Gyokeres scored his third goal in three top-flight games after Eberechi Eze gave him a simple finish.

But it was the winger who didn't get an assist who shone brightest. Noni Madueke was outstanding, continuing his rich vein of form after starring in England's 5-0 thrashing of Serbia in Belgrade on Tuesday.

Arsenal weren't done after Madueke went off, though. Zubimendi met Leandro Trossard's cross and his well-placed header made it three for the hosts.

Here are our player ratings from the Emirates.

Arsenal

David Raya 6 - Only had one save to make against a feeble attack.

Jurrien Timber 7 - Another impressive game for the Dutch right-back, a statistical beast in the first half by winning the most duels (5), making the most clearances (3) and making the most tackles (2) of any Arsenal player.

Cristhian Mosquera 7 - Excellent on his first Premier League start, making William Saliba's absence a non-discussion during the game.

Gabriel Magalhaes 7 - Once again a rock at the back.

Riccardo Calafiori 6 - Booked in the second half and taken off soon after.

Martin Odegaard 5 - Injured after eight minutes and he never recovered.

Martin Zubimendi 8 - A wonder-goal to break the deadlock and a great leap for his second, showing why Arsenal forked out £55.8million on him.
