Actor Keerthy Suresh recently shared intimate details about her long-standing relationship with businessman Antony Thattil during an appearance on Jagapathi Babu’s Zee5 talk show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa. The actress, who married Antony in 2024 after 15 years of dating, spoke candidly about the reasons behind their long wait for marriage and her initial concerns about family acceptance.
A 15-Year Journey of Love
Keerthy revealed that her relationship with Antony began in 2010, before she entered the film industry. She explained that their marriage was delayed because both wanted to establish their personal and professional lives first. During their dating years, they endured a long-distance relationship for about five to six years while Antony worked in Qatar and Keerthy pursued her career in Chennai.
She reflected on their journey, noting that they both needed time to feel ready. “We wanted to be sure about our goals first. I was focused on completing my studies and making a name in cinema. He was busy with his work abroad. Only after we both felt ready, we told our families,” Keerthy shared.
Navigating Religious Differences
Despite their strong bond, Keerthy admitted that she initially feared her parents might not approve of Antony because of their differing religious backgrounds. She spoke to her father about Antony around four years ago, bracing herself for resistance. To her surprise, her father welcomed Antony warmly, even sharing a celebratory drink with him. Keerthy recalled that the reality was far smoother than she had imagined, highlighting her family’s open-mindedness and focus on love over religion.
During the conversation, Keerthy also spoke about their pet dog, Nyke, which holds special significance for the couple. Antony gifted her the puppy in 2018, following the success of her film Mahanati. As the relationship was not yet public, Keerthy chose to honour their love privately by blending their names to name the dog—Ny from Antony and Ke from Keerthy.
